Inside the Game: A Day in the Life of a Senior Team Player

Ever wondered what it takes to play at the top level of club rugby? Behind every big play and every powerful try is hours of preparation, discipline, and passion.

Our Senior Team players begin their day early with recovery work — mobility, light cardio, and stretching. After that, it’s a nutrition-rich breakfast and off to team meetings, where strategy is reviewed and game footage is analysed. By midday, they’re hitting the field for high-intensity skills and conditioning drills under the guidance of our head coach, Jake Thornton.

Afternoons are spent either strength training with Michelle Rawlings, our dedicated S&C coach, or doing mental prep and recovery sessions. Nutrition, injury prevention, and mental health are all part of the program — because playing your best means feeling your best.

Playing senior club rugby is a full-time commitment, and for many, a step toward professional leagues. But more than anything, it’s a lifestyle built around camaraderie, hard work, and a deep love for the game.
